Keynote speaker: Labor researcher Jeb Sprague

Jeb Sprague is a researcher and graduate student in History at California State University of Long Beach. He will be reporting on the role of the AFL-CIO's Solidarity Center in Haiti. The AFL-CIO receives over $33 million dollars from the National Endowment for Democracy for the international operations of the AFL-CIO and Sprague has been researching how this money was used in Haiti. As a result of the publication of some of his research results, officials of the AFL-CIO American Center For International Labor Solidarity (ACILS) have contacted his professors at his school and sought to discredit him. Sprague will outline why this is taking place. Also speaking:

* Pierre Labossiere of the Haiti Action Committee which is fighting to defend the human rights of the Haitian people. He will give an up-to-the-minute report on the situation in Haiti today.

* Dave Welsh and Seth Donnelly, Bay Area trade unionists and members of the US Labor/Human Rights Delegation to Haiti in June and July 2005. They attended the Congress of the Confederation of Haitian Workers (CTH) as fraternal delegates. They met with over 100 workers and peasants in Port au Prince and in the north of Haiti, and conducted video interviews about the current situation for Haitian workers and peasants.
