Honourable Prime Minister,

As you embark on this trip south, a concerned Canadian and son of Haiti considers it important to remind you of some disturbing facts about the situation the people of Haiti are currently forced to endure:

1) The illegal authorities you've been dealing with in Haiti are currently holding in jail the following constitutional officials turned political prisoners after the February 29th coup: The Constitutional Prime Minister, Mr. Yvon Neptune, the Head of the Haitian Senate, Mr. Yvon Feuillé along with fellow lawmaker Mr. Rudy Hérivaux as well as the Minister of Interior, Mr. Jocelerme Privert. The Latortue-Alexandre regime have also arrested and jailed under the most violent and illegal conditions several key leaders of Fanmi Lavalas, the political party the people of Haiti had entrusted its governance to by electoral mandate expiring February 7, 2006. Among these political prisoners, I am sure you know about Rev. Gérard Jean-Juste and folk singer Rosanne Auguste. But, perhaps you are less familiar with the names of the other hundred or so poor Haitians rounded up, thrown and forgotten in jail with the help of the RCMP officers said to be currently "training" the repressive police force in Haiti. In essence, the people's legally appointed authorities have been deposed by a de facto regime and are persistently being persecuted by various means. See www.haitiaction.net

2) While the RCMP is supposedly training the Haitian police, we are witnessing a process of militarising the Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH) which coincides with increased human rights violations that are decried by various human rights organizations. At the same time, policemen are being murdered under strange conditions. Although fingers are often quickly pointed towards pro-Lavalas activists, a more logical foe for the police force is the disbanded army that the CIA et.al. had used to conduct the coup and which now occupies large portions of Haitian territory. Some are beginning to ask whether the plan of the occupation allies in Haiti is not indeed to completely destabilize and destroy the police and replace it by a resurrected Forces Armées d'Haiti (FadH). Would this outcome not be consistent with discussions held at the January 2003 "Ottawa Iniative" meeting?

3) Timed obviously to prepare for your arrival in Haiti and redirect attention away from the above-cited facts, the puppet and illegal authorities have this very week-end made public their ridiculous plan to also arrest the constitutional Haitian Head of State, H.E. President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, currently in exile in South-Africa. This attempted diversion will not work mister Prime Minister, human rights activists and real journalists will continue to dig for the truth about the Feb 29th coup and about the crimes currently being committed by this U.S.-installed puppet regime and its private and public sector sponsors within and without Haiti.

4) Contrary to Canada, the 15 member Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the 52 States of the African Union, the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus and their fellow Democratic Party Congressmen, peace activists worldwide all refuse to recognize the puppet and illegal authorities installed after the February 29th coup in Haiti. If, under your leadership, Mr. Prime Minister, Canada has chosen to side with the illegal regime change agenda of the U.S. and France, the two slave-built empires that have exploited African-Haitians for most of their history, let it be clear that your actions and words on this file DO NOT speak for me nor for millions of Canadians who, unfortunately, remain unaware that their government is participating in such an illegal and cynical enterprise.

Finally, Mr. Prime Minister, I wish to encourage you as you inevitably mingle with the rich and corrupt minority in Haiti which sponsored this second coup against the people's struggling democracy, to remember that we all understand the racist message of this 2004 Euro-American coup.

In this bicentennial year, we sons and daughters of Haiti, have been attacked in our very African soul as well as in our bodies. However, Haiti is and shall remain to all Africans worldwide and for generations of decent human beings, lovers of freedom of all race and creed, a beacon of resistance to white supremacist arrogance, trickery and tyranny.

The freedom that our beloved ancestors fought and secured for us on November 18, 1803 shall be preserved.

The sons and daughters of Haiti worldwide will continue to welcome genuine and sincere brotherhood from the people of the world, including the very generous but misinformed Canadian citizenry. And, in so doing, we shall also strive to ensure that truth and justice prevail over hypocrisy and injustice.

So, rest assured Mr. Prime Minister, that we will keep Canadians well informed while you enjoy your time in Haiti, in bad company.
