En ce 21 avril 2013, je tiens à rendre un hommage à feu mon grand-père, le docteur François Duvalier.
A toutes les étapes de sa vie publique, il employa sa finesse d'esprit à défendre les valeurs et les intérêts de la République d'Haïti, notamment comme médecin ,codirecteur de la campagne antipianique (où le pseudonyme de PAPA DOC lui fut donné), directeur général puis ministre de la Santé publique et du Travail, écrivain, ethnologue, africologue, sociologue, membres de plusieurs Sociétés scientifiques d'outre-mer, co-fondateur des Griots, journaliste, internationaliste et vice-président du Mouvement anti-apartheid (mouvement dont l'aboutissement sera la libération du président Nelson Mandela après 27 ans d'emprisonnement en Afrique du Sud , de concert avec le Dr Fidel Castro et le Colonel Mouammar Kadhafi ) et, enfin comme président à vie de la République.
Le Dr François Duvalier a, tout au long de sa vie, défendu les valeurs républicaines qui étaient les siennes: intégrité et dévouement au service de celles et ceux qui lui avaient accordé leur confiance.
Il fut un Haïtien convaincu, un grand nationaliste, ayant mis son énergie et ses convictions au service du pays, fidèle à ses engagements. Il fut par ailleurs un chef d'Etat entreprenant et dynamique, qui ne cessa jamais de promouvoir son idéal.

François Duvalier fut un homme politique éminent, à l'image de ces grands serviteurs de l'Etat qui ont bâti la Première République noire de ce monde.
Que les dieux tutélaires de la nation veillent sur lui et sur le peuple haïtien!
In Memoriam Dr. François Duvalier, President for Life
In this April 21, 2013, I wish to pay tribute to my late grandfather, Dr. François Duvalier.
At every stage of his public life, he used his sharp mind to uphold the values and interests of the Republic of Haiti, especially as a doctor, co-director of the yaws campaign (where the nickname was given to him PAPA DOC) , CEO and Minister of Health and Labour, writer, anthropologist, africologue sociologist and member of several scientific societies overseas, co-founder of the Griots, journalist, internationalist and vice president of the anti-Apartheid Movement (movement which will culminate in the release of Nelson Mandela after 27 years in prison in South Africa, together with Dr. Fidel Castro and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi), and finally as president for life of the Republic.
Dr. François Duvalier, throughout his life, defended the republican values that were his: integrity and dedication to those who had placed their trust.
He was a convinced Haitien, a great nationalist, having put his energy and conviction to serve the country, faithful to its commitments. He was also a head of state enterprising and dynamic, which never ceased to promote his ideal.
Dr. François Duvalier was a prominent politician in the image of those great servants of the state who built the first black republic in the world.
That the tutelary gods of the nation guard him and the people of Haiti!
