HaitiAction.net - Port au Prince, Haiti — Haiti needs to prepare for the threat that two major storms will hit the beleaguered nation within one week. This time the forecast by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of Miami, Florida is that the cyclone that has just attained the name Tropical Storm ISAAC will hit the South or North coast of the Island by Friday. The current official track is for Hurricane ISAAC to scrape along the South with the center passing over the western part of the Sud and Grand Anse departments before heading to Cuba. ISAAC is near 15.4N 53.7W or about 500 miles east of Guadeloupe.

A "deep-layer subtropical ridge" should keep ISAAC on a westerly track — 275º — for the next three days. ISAAC is not very organized and will see some wind shear and more weakening as it passes through the Windward Islands. There is a small possibility that ISAAC could dissipate enough before hitting the Caribbean that it could be well below Tropical Storm strength by the time it Hits Haiti. For now, the NHC is confident that ISAAC will see better conditions and will develop into a Category ONE Hurricane within 36 hours.

A strong tropical wave — Invest 96L — is about 600 miles SW of the Cape Verde Islands, it could very well become Hurricane JOYCE by the time it threatens Haiti 4-5 days behind ISAAC. 96L is expected to develop into a tropical depression within fairly soon and could become the 10th named storm of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season within 36 hours.

A "Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St. Martin, St. Maarten St. Kitts, Nevis, Antiqua, Montserrat, Anguilla, Barbuda, Saba, St. Eustatius
